In 2025 there will once again be five beautiful checkpoints, which can be approached in any order of your choice. Each checkpoint is located at the end of a dead end, somewhere in the mountains of eastern Switzerland.
The Calfeisental Valley is the only place that has been featured in every edition of DEAD ENDS & cake. The reason is simple – it’s so beautiful there!
This year, however, the sweet reward is in the beautiful Maiensäss (mountain pasture) halfway up the Malanser Alp.
ATTENTION: The narrow road between the dam and Sankt Martin is only accessible from one side at a time. This also applies to bicycles! Please adhere to this!
Every full hour until quarter past > towards Sankt Martin
Every half an hour until quarter before > towards the dam
From 6:00 PM to 9:00 AM > free travel.
Obermutten is located at 1863 meters high above the Schin Gorge. A tiny 14th century Walser village – a handful of ancient wooden houses in the middle of a green meadow. Even the chapel in the village is made of wood. The high plateau offers incredible views of Lenzerheide, the Albula Valley and the Beverin National Park. Cakes and stamps are served directly at Gasthaus Post.
The Camona Hut is located above the picturesque village of Siat with its famous church. In a quiet alpine pasture, you’ll receive a well-deserved stamp and a delicious slice of cake.
The checkpoint is located on a well-maintained gravel road.
Various paths, trails, and hiking trails lead to Alp Schindelberg. None of them are particularly easy, and you’ll find yourself pushing your bike for a while along the way… But the views, the beautiful, tranquil surroundings, and, of course, the famous Schlorziflade at the checkpoint make up for it.
The Partnun checkpoint is located in the charming Sulzfluh mountain hut. Navigation is quite simple for once – just follow the road until you reach the checkpoint…
For the adventurous, we highly recommend the short detour to Partnunsee. You won’t regret it!
